Free statewide eSafety for Women workshops - March 2020

Good morning,

Please note – registrations for these workshops close Wednesday 26 February, we have limited availability at all three workshops so if you are interested in attending please send through your registration as soon as possible.

Some folks from Neighbourhood Houses have previously participated in consultations held to inform development of Safe Homes, Families, Communities: Tasmania’s action plan for family and sexual violence 2019-2022 which launched on 1 July 2019 (more information, including copies of the action plan are available at www.dpac.tas.gov.au/safehomesfamiliescommunities).

As part of our continued response to family and sexual violence, the Government is committed to working with the eSafety Commissioner to deliver education and training to respond to technology-facilitated abuse.

The Department of Communities Tasmania warmly invite you or your service/organisation to attend free eSafety for Women workshops being delivered statewide in March.

These workshops will be the same as those delivered in July 2019 and as such we are hoping any new staff or those unable to attend last time will be available to attend.

Workshops will be held in the South, North and North West:

  • Hobart (Salamanca Inn)             Tuesday 3 March, 2:00pm – 4:00pm
  • Launceston (Silverdome)           Wednesday 4 March, 1:00pm – 3:00pm
  • Burnie (Burnie Arts Centre)      Thursday 5 March 2019, 9:00am – 11:00am

The workshops are designed for frontline workers in specialist and mainstream services and volunteers who work – directly or indirectly – with people affected by family and sexual violence.

Workshops will cover technology-facilitated abuse in the context of family and sexual violence (including image-based abuse) and how to support women and families, including information on the eSafety Complaints Portal, free online training, and other useful resources. Further detail on the workshop venues and content can be found in the attached flyers. Read more about the Office of eSafety at https://www.esafety.gov.au/.

You are invited to nominate people from your service / organisation to attend each regional workshop.
