Kate Beer has stepped down as NHT President.

Hello everyone,

The Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania Board is saddened to advise you that on the 21st May, Kate Beer stepped down as NHT’s President and Board Member.

Kate has decided to take some well deserved leave and spend some time with her daughter and granddaughter. We are sure that she will also take some time to watch her beloved Collingwood when the AFL is eventually up and running again!

We wish to acknowledge some of the wonderful things achieved during Kate’s 11 years on our Board including:

  • The increased funding of the Neighbourhood House Network
  • The overseeing of the Everyday Literacy for Local Communities Program
  • The purchasing of the NHT Hub (building) and
  • Bipartisan support of the Network.

Kate has held various positions on the Board and has always generously given other the benefit of her knowledge and used her strategic planning to the advantage of our Network and the communities we support.

In the interim, Michael Higgins, our Vice President, will be stepping up to act as President until our AGM in September.

As a result of Kate’s stepping down there is now a casual vacancy on the Board for the North West region. So, for those of you in the North West who may be interested we will be sending out more information soon.

We are sure that you will join the Board and the NHT Team in thanking Kate for her hard work and dedication.

Remember during this time of change as always, the NHT Board Members are here for you as NHT’s members.

Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Michael on 6297 0170 or Tracey on 6228 6515.

Kind regards

Michael Higgins
